Background Information
The Nature versus Nurture debate has been widely controversial for many years. The debate is basically over whether or not our behavioral, mental, and physical states are based on the way we were raised, or the environment in which we were raised. Scientists have proven many solutions to this debate, yet people still debate it.
Nature versus nurture is a debate that relates the importance of a persons genetics (nature) versus a persons experiences (nurture) in determining or causing individual differences in physical and behavioral traits. Some scientist believe that people behave and think the way they do because of their genetics. Other scientist believe that people behave and think certain ways because it was the way they were raised to do so. Due to the knowledge we have gained about the human genome we have learned that both sides are true in some ways. Most people believe that nature effects a persons ability and traits while nurture effects their maturity and their knowledge. Even though we know all those things the debate still goes on, as scientist fight over how much of who we are is shaped by genes and how much by the environment.
